The New Moral Climate... A Lot Like The Old One

There were a couple of surprises from Stephen Harper, in his cabinet sworn in today.

First, Liberal David Emerson crossed the floor to join the Conservatives and the Cabinet. Sound a little like anyone we know? Maybe an ex-girlfriend of Peter MacKay? I suppose what’s good the goose…

Second, notwithstanding his longstanding commitment not to appoint Senators, Harper appointed a Senator (Michael Fortier) to get him in Cabinet. Of course, Fortier promises to resign from the Senate when the next election is called. Really.

I didn’t vote for this lot. But if I had, I’d be asking for my vote back.
