Former London Mayor Diane Haskett has announced that she is returning to Washington (where she has lived since she left office). Haskett returned to London last Fall to run in a federal by-election, then saying she was “home”. This is a sentiment she repeated on election night when, after losing, she claimed she would be staying in London.

Now I’m not sorry to see Haskett leave. We have enough neo-conservative zealots now. But it is unfortunate that she has given the public yet another reason to distrust the word of politicians. Few, if any, will believe that she did not come to London intending only to stay if she won. I don't believe it.

In any event, good riddance your worship. Don’t feel obliged to pay another visit anytime soon.
